PINNALA
Lace for sale by the metre
Back in the old days, the
Pinnala house stood on the best location in town as regards business,
namely, near the Pori toll gate. The house was owned by merchant families.
In the stone building built in 1795 there was a shop in which also
less valuable goods, such as lace, were sold. Lace for lace trimmed
caps was sold by the unit and other lace by the metre. Also, silks
for lace trimmed caps and bobbin lace thread were on offer.
Pits-Priia, Kauppakatu 29
Today, Rauma Art Museum operates in the Pinnala house, and lace is
sold in the shop Pits-Priia at the Priia corner.
Pits-Priia
is the shop of the Lace Makers Association. In the shop ready-made
lace as well as materials, accessories and lace patterns are sold.
Lace can also be found in other craft shops in Old Rauma.
